Residential Asphalt Sealing At A1, we offer residential asphalt sealing services. Many people try the "do it yourself" approach, but the problem is that most off-the-shelf products can actually damage your pavement. Asphalt actually consists of oils and asphalt cement mixes. The majority of "off-the-shelf" products are diluted with chemicals that can be very harmful to your pavement. If you use a sealant that is not made of asphalt oils, this can cause a chemical reaction within your pavement, causing it to become weak and to crack. A1 Superior Paving recommends that all new asphalt is sealed the following Spring. Our partner company, Marc-Pro Contracting Ltd. uses a pressurized spray machine to apply an oil-base sealer into and onto the asphalt. As asphalt becomes older and more used, it loses its oil and begins to deteriorate. You can see this as it turns more and more grey. The spray machine puts that oil back into the asphalt and in turn gives the asphalt a longer life. Trust our professionals to do the job right. At A1, we use the best quality products made from actual asphalt, which have long-lasting effects (2 to 3 years on a residential driveway). From there, we clean the surrounding surfaces with air compressors to remove all debris. Once the area is dry, we apply an asphalt glue (bonding agent). This is an important step, as it will help ensure the new asphalt will stick evenly without separating. At this point, we will fill the potholes, and patch pave any low areas. Once we have an even surface, we will resurface the area with hot mix asphalt to the proper grade and slope. This maintenance should last anywhere from 2 to 4 years.
