Pavement Cleaning and Sealing
At A1 Superior Paving, we use the very best asphalt cleaning and
sealing agents available on the market today. Our high performance
sealer offers top performance adhesion and durability. We have
other available commercial sealants, depending on your particular
needs and budget. Our standard oil base sealant will last up to a
year. Higher-priced sealants usually add more durability and a
longer life span.
A1 Superior Paving recommends that all new asphalt is sealed the
following Spring. The partner company, Marc-Pro Contracting Ltd.
uses a pressurized spray machine to apply an oil-base sealer into
and onto the asphalt. As asphalt becomes older and more used, it
loses its oil and begins to deteriorate. You can see this as it
turns more and more grey. The spray machine puts that oil back into
the asphalt and in turn gives the asphalt a longer life.

Crack Repair Maintenance
Asphalt pavement cracks are very common, and can become a huge
problem if left untreated. Cracks allow moisture to develop beneath
the asphalt, causing pavement deterioration over time. The moisture
will make its way down to erode the entire base, ultimately causing
the pavement to sink and crumble. This further causes more cracks
to form, as well as potholes. Freeze and thaw cycles of our
Northwestern Ontario winters will accelerate the entire pavement
deterioration process.
At A1 Superior Paving, we offer crack sealing maintenance
services which involve opening up and cleaning out the cracks with
high-powered air compressors to allow for the application of
sealant.
Our professional maintenance crew utilizes only top quality hot
rubber sealants, which are ideal year round.

Pothole Maintenance
At A1, we start out by inspecting the asphalt and identifying
all cracks and potholes. From there, we clean the surrounding
surfaces with air compressors to remove all debris. Once the area
is dry, we apply an asphalt glue (bonding agent). This is an
important step, as it will help ensure the new asphalt will stick
evenly without separating. At this point, we will fill the
potholes, and patch pave any low areas. Once we have an even
surface, we will resurface the area with hot mix asphalt to the
proper grade and slope. This maintenance should last anywhere from
2 to 4 years.
